The weights of the Caulfield Cup field have been raised by half a kilogram following the withdrawal of the original top weights and it is Preferment that will now carry the top weight with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Preferment has not performed at his best this preparation, but he has a strong record at 2400 metres and he won the Group 1 The BMW over that trip in the autumn.

Our Ivanhowe finished third in the Caulfield Cup last year and he is back for another tilt at the race with 56.5 kilograms on his back.

The German import was slightly flat in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 2, but he is sure relish the step-up to 2400 metres.

Exospheric is the new stablemate of Our Ivanhowe and he is the first of the European raiders in the 2016 Caulfield Cup field with 55.5 kilograms on his back.

The Beat Hollow entire has been a touch disappointing since he took out the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes, but he still has form around the likes of Postponed and Highland Reel.

The other European gallopers in the Caulfield Cup field are Scottish, Sir Isaac Newton and Articus.

Scottish looks to have the strongest form of the trio and has a similar profile to 2008 Caulfield Cup winner All The Good, while Sir Isaac Newton and Articus have proven to be fairly inconsistent performers during their racing careers to dare.

Tarzino has failed to fire this preparation and he has 54.5 kilograms on his back, while imported stayer Almoonqith has 54 kilograms.

Sir John Hawkwood has the chance to become the first horse in a decade to complete The Metropolitan/Caulfield Cup double and he is one of the only horses in this field that takes winning form into the race.

Tally has been well-supported in Caulfield Cup betting since he finished third in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) and he will carry 53 kilograms with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle.

He gives weight to Crown Oaks winner Jameka, who is set to start the 2016 Caulfield Cup as a dominant favourite.

Jameka stamped herself as a clear Caulfield Cup contender with her impressive victory in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) and she justified that position with her second place finish behind Hartnell in the Turnbull Stakes.

Another mare that has been well-supported in Caulfield Cup betting is Real Love, who gets into the race with 52.5 kilograms on her back.

Real Love was no match for Jameka in the Naturalism Stakes, but she returned to winning form with an impressive victory in the JRA Cup.

The 2016 Caulfield Cup field is rounded out by Crown Oaks winner Set Square, Tony McEvoy-trained Big Memory, Newcastle Gold Cup winner Sacred Master, New Zealand Oaks winner Fanatic, OTI Racing-owned Pemberely and the fairytale story Go Dreaming, while De Little Engine and Vengeur Masque are the two emergencies.
